Class Styles - Astanga Mysore

Astanga Mysore is a silent practice where students learn each pose of the Astanga yoga practice at their own pace with individual guidance from the teacher. Students may arrive anytime during the class period and begin their practice. The primary method of instruction is through hands-on adjustments and the commitment of showing up on a regular basis. Mysore classes are recommended for all students, both beginner and advanced. The practice of Astanga Mysore is named for Mysore, South India, the place where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the founder and proponent, lives and teaches

Announcement

We are sorry to see Bill Shapleigh leave the morning Moksha Mysore program. Bill’s last day will be Friday, June 1. We wish him the best of luck at Yogaview (www.yogaview.com). We have extended an open invitation to Bill to return to teach at Moksha at any time. It has been a pleasure working with Bill for the past couple years – he has demonstrated all of the important qualities of a yoga teacher – acting and speaking with integrity, dedication, knowledge of the traditional practice, and great adjustments!

Moksha has started an international search for a qualified Astanga Mysore teacher. We have placed an ad in June’s astanga.com newsletter and have contacted senior teachers for their recommendations. Meanwhile, Riverwest Studio A will be open for self-practice Sunday through Friday from 7am to 9am. Though there will be no teacher in charge, you are welcome to come and do your own practice until a replacement is found. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@mokshayoga.com.

Namaste,

Daren Friesen, Director

Moksha Yoga Center
