In this session, you will learn how to approach the key postures in the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series from an anatomical, technical and philosophical basis. Regardless of whether you are a teacher or student, this class will give you in-depth information that will either inform your practice or your teaching of the Ashtanga Yoga method. You will delve deeply into the Ashtanga Yoga method, learn how to work directly with the body and integrate valuable information that will take your understanding of the practice to a new level. You can only share what you directly experience so the process of teaching, assisting and guiding students includes your personal level of awareness. While there is a cookie-cutter method that applies universally to all people in all situations, you will experiment with communicating through hands-on assists during your teaching and during your yoga practice.
Deep twisting increases energy levels, cleanses the body and opens the mind to new levels of awareness. Find the perfect balance between activation and release in this new approach to twisting. Learn healthy techniques to increase flexibility in your spine and shoulders while creating a solid foundation in your pelvis. Use the core strength of the body to support the twisting and extension. You will have fun with many levels of twists and even use the twisting position to enter some challenging arm balances!
Kino will lead you through the entire Ashtanga Yoga primary series.
Break a sweat while learning to safely balance on your hands, have fun while challenging yourself and gain access to your own inner strength. The magic of the arm balance is demystified and made approachable so that every practitioner who is not afraid to put in the work can feel the beauty of flight.
When done correctly arm balances can build self-esteem, increase energy flow and heal old injuries. Every student will leave with proven techniques to safely build the structural support necessary for stability in all strength-based postures.

Following the Master Teacher Roundtable, Kino will be signing her new book, The Power of Ashtanga Yoga, which comes out in May. Purchase the book here.
Ashtanga Yoga’s Second Series, called Nadi Shodhana, works to cleanse the nervous system through a series of rigorous strengthening, backbending, twisting and hip opening postures. This class makes the challenging postures of the Intermediate series accessible and approachable to all interested practitioners. The inspired beginner will find easy, fun and approachable techniques to some of Ashtanga yoga’s most challenging postures, while the avid practitioner and seasoned veteran will find new techniques to inspire their practice to new levels of precision. Prior experience with Ashtanga yoga recommended.
