COURSE DESCRIPTION:Teacher Training Teaching yoga is far more than teaching asana. It involves an in-depth understanding of the vastness of yogic thought, philosophy, practice and application in life. This short teacher training will give you a glimpse of the basics of teaching yoga, especially teaching standing poses, inversions, twists, and backbends. We will also touch the many facets of the yogic diamond and how Purna Yoga approaches a complete, holistic practice. Weekend Workshop Purna Yoga: "WHOLE" or "COMPLETE" yoga focuses on the evolution of the whole being, not merely the physical body but also the mind, the emotions and the spirit. Purna Yoga invokes three levels of integration: the integration of the inner environment (or harmonization of the human personality), the integration of the human psyche with the external environment, and the integration of the psyche with its ultimate spiritual ground, the Divine. In the western world, the physical practice of asana and outer practices of yoga have been readily adopted. Yet, there is a longing common to many sincere practitioners to go deeper into the discovery of the true essence of yoga. This weekend you will learn to become more conscious of the subtle and deeper aspects of yoga that are revealed by asana and pranayama. Your practice will become more rewarding and nourishing. You will learn how the five vayus (winds) affect the standing poses and inversions; you will learn how the five elements are to be used during the practice; you will learn how Ayurveda (primarily the doshas) is incorporated in the practice; you will learn this and much, much more. |
