We spend most of our lives either upright and awake or supine and asleep. Yet, there is a veil between these two worlds: the 4,000 year-old tantric teachings call this veil Yoga Nidra. Translated as yogic sleep, Yoga Nidra is traditionally referred to as the state in which the Gods reside. Here, the body is at rest in Savasana, the mind is at rest but the consciousness is fully alert as we systematically travel through the 5 koshas or sheaths of the body, mind, spirit complex.Profound healing and transformation can occur in this state.

Central to the practice of Yoga Nidra is the sankalpa or resolve. This simple statement of your deepest aspiration for your life is seeded during Yoga Nidra, in the deepest recesses of your consciousness, where it can take root and grow. Each practice session helps to burn away the old by infusing you with a deep state of relaxed awareness and presence that is the true source of joy and well-being. In this Yoga Nidra Clinic, we dive deep into the practice emerging on the other side with greater integration and fewer obstacles to expressing our wholeness in the world.

"Elesa Commerse teaches from a place of deep acceptance that, for all her students, offers a profound healing. Her teachings are steeped in loving kindness and generosity. Her language, sensitivity, chanting and poetry touch places in our being that are so hard to reach, they nourish the innermost chambers of the heart."
- Tias Little, author of The Thread of Breath, River Flow and Freeing the Bird of Prana

Elesa Commerse is a beloved meditation teacher, known for her ability to demystify the practice and facilitate breakthrough experiences on the journey to authenticity. She has been teaching since 1977 and has been meditating for as long as she can remember (even though she didn't call it that).

A graduate of the Temple of Kriya Yoga Meditation teacher-training program, Elesa studied Yoga Nidra extensively with Donna Farhi, in Australia and New Zealand. Since then she completed Dr. Richard Miller's Yoga Nidra teacher training. She holds two certificates in Advanced Yoga Studies for completing Donna Farhi's yoga teacher-training program.

The founder of National Meditation Month, Elesa is the director of wisdom training for Prajna Yoga, Tias Little's teacher-training program, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she develops and leads the meditation instruction for all three levels of training.
