Skills For Reading The Body & Optimizing Pose Selection For Teachers

The human body is always telling an incredible story through its own unique energetic language. Every contracted muscle, every posture, every facial expression, every breath yields a tremendous amount of information to the watchful teacher. The key is being able to interpret, to read if you will, what we are looking at.

As healers, our search is for tension in the body. Tension tells us that muscles are contracted, that alignment is thrown off, that energy fields are blocked. Tension tells us that there is a potential for scar tissue that limits our yoga practice. Did you know that tension in the Rectus Femoris muscle of the thigh can cause digestive dysfunction in the Stomach? Did you know that Stomach dysfunction can cause tension in the Rectus Femoris? Therefore, to understand how to best help our students develop we must understand the story that their bodies reveals to us. In order to do this we must be able to read their body. This workshop is dedicated to yoga teachers and students who want to understand their practice better.

In this workshop I will teach you skills for interpreting your student’s breath sounds and for interpreting what they are saying without words. I will teach you how to see the body and know with uncanny precision of were the tension is originating from. Through class exercises, you will learn how to collect this information, read your student’s story and decide upon the best poses for their continued growth.
