In yoga practice being powerful has little to do with force. True power manifests when we make space for the free movement of Prana within ourselves. Awareness, breath, and gravity are the three primary forces that influence the flow of prana in the body. Ayurvedic marma theory states that in order for the prana to move in a balanced way the breath must be relaxed, the mind calm and the muscles supple. When÷our breath becomes an exquisitely rhythmic song and our support is created by tuning our bones into gravity, we experience the innate power and lightness of the vital force.

Join Scott for this dynamic vinyasa class that will incorporate principles that are shared by both hatha yoga and ayurvedic medicine such as marma, nadi, and bandha. This is a great opportunity for students of all levels to refine their yoga practice.

Scott Blossom teaches a style of Hatha Yoga Vinyasa and Yoga therapy that is informed by his training as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and an Ayurvedic Consultant. Scott specializes in teaching about the relationship between yoga and Ayurveda. He is honored to have had the expert guidance of his teachers such as Dr. Robert Svoboda, Zhander Remete, and Erich Schiffmann. In addition to co-hosting retreats and workshops with Dr. Svoboda he is a faculty member of the Kripalu Ayurvedic Training Program and Integrative Yoga Therapy. He has published several articles about Yoga and Ayurveda including a feature article that appeared in the March 2005 issue of Yoga Journal magazine. He recently presented at the Yoga Journal Conference in San Franciso and will be returning again to the Midwest Yoga Conference in 2006.
