Camela Christopher is a Chicago-native yoga messenger; her message is simple… Yoga for the People! Camela’s passions for the practice are rooted in Hatha and Vinyasa, primarily for the balancing and energizing effects due to the art of sequencing and breath-linked movement. Ever since Camela was a kid she wanted to be a teacher. She finally met her calling after the first yoga class she taught; it left her smiling for days. She is very grateful to be able to share the love and her enthusiasm for yoga with the students she is blessed to teach.
Camela says, “Yoga is for everyone, this is a universal truth, and now is the time to practice yoga! Yoga builds strength and stability while reducing rigidity in the body-mind and simultaneously increasing flexibility where needed. Spirituality enters into the asana practice when we are willing to let go of something we are clinging to. Our true inner child radiates within us; we just need to peel away the layers that hold us back. Asana, the physical practice of yoga, helps create openness, so that we can see our true selves. The yoga Sutras and other ancient texts don’t tell us how to do this, but they do leave us with thousands of beautiful poses for us to explore. Our true spirit resides in our curiosity and our need to explore. The benefits of yoga are innumerable; yoga is truly for the people.”
Camela completed Moksha’s teacher training and in-depth studies program with Daren Friesen in 2010. Camela is inspired by Seane Corn’s teaching for her ability to take yoga off the mat, Rusty Wells for his pure Bhakti devotion and Master Iyengar teacher Gabriel Halpern, for his therapeutic knowledge and dharma talks.
