Andi Hicks

Andi began practicing yoga as a freshman in college at Sangha Yoga in Kalamazoo Michigan. She can remember feeling so grounded and balanced after leaving that first class that she soon found herself attending more and more often. Soon she was noticing the more subtle movement that made up her asana practice and the various ways that her mind would calm and her breath would change when she worked with different pranayama and meditation techniques. She was hooked. She become more aware of the subtle chain of moments that made up her days and became curious about applying the principles that she had learned in books and in yoga class to other areas of her life. “Yoga has taught me the amazing lesson of becoming still. It has shown me the simple beauty and wonder that exists in the present moment.”
When she moved to Chicago she began practicing at several studios in the area but felt most at home at Moksha Yoga and made the decision to enroll in the Moksha Yoga 200 hr teacher training program with Daren Friesen. During her teacher training she began to expand her knowledge of proper alignment, sequencing and the deeper philosophies of yoga. She also began working as a workshop manager at Moksha and was given the incredible opportunity to practice with several master teachers including, but not limited to Aadil Palkivala, Maty Ezraty, Gary Kraftsow, Tias Little and Seane Corn. “I feel so grateful to have access to such amazing instructors. I aspire to give my students the incredible gift that I have received from my own teachers, the guidance to turn inward and recognize their own inherent wisdom.”
“Yoga creates the perfect opportunity to become curious about who you are.”
