Giridhari das is a local monk, who for the past 3 years has fully immersed himself in the timeless ancient tradition of bhakti-yoga. He spends his days chanting Vedic mantras, studying ancient yoga texts like the Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, singing kirtan, and teaching others the principles of bhakti-yoga .
Originally from Minnesota, he now resides at Chicago’s local Hare Krishna temple in Rogers Park; where at only age 23, he is a full-time monk. He was first introduced to bhakti-yoga while attending the University of Minnesota, where he was meditating and the ancient yoga text, the Bhagavad-Gita, was placed in his lap by a traveling monk.
Giridhari has found that bhakti-yoga has uplifted and transformed his consciousness at a rapid rate, allowing him the opportunity to go beyond the temporary distractions and connect with the eternal through loving devotion. He finds this to be the essence of yoga, to reconnect with the divine source and wishes to share this ancient mystery through leading mantra-meditation, kirtan, and discussions on the Bhagavad-Gita.
