SUMMARY:Chanting the Invocation to Patanjali
DESCRIPTION:Chanting the Invocation to Patañjali:\nThe Yoga Sūtras Study Series\nA Krishnamacharya / Viniyoga Lineage Offering\nBefore āsana, before philosophy, before technique — there is sound. Join me for an ongoing chanting and study series rooted in the living tradition of T. Krishnamacharya and his son T.K.V. Desikachar, where the Yoga Sūtras are not merely read, but chanted, contemplated, and lived.\nEach gathering will begin with learning and refining the traditional Invocation to Patañjali — honoring the lineage through careful Sanskrit pronunciation, rhythm, and breath. In this tradition, chanting is a method of study. The sound prepares the mind.\nFrom there, we will begin chanting the Yoga Sūtras, starting with Chapter One (Samādhi Pāda). As time allows, we will continue learning additional sūtras each class, working steadily and respectfully through the text in proper sequence.\n\nLearn accurate Sanskrit pronunciation according to traditional meter\nExplore how chanting affects breath, mind, and nervous system\nStudy in a progressive and relational way, as the text was traditionally transmitted\nCultivate steadiness through repetition and continuity\n\nBecause of the progressive and cumulative nature of this work, this is not intended as a drop-in class. Regular attendance is strongly encouraged in order to build confidence, depth, and continuity of understanding.\nAs one of my teachers shared with me: Devoted students are treated with devotion.\nAll sincere and committed students are welcome.\nTaught by senior teacher Aimee Forsberg, CYT 500, E-RYT 500.\nSummer Schedule:\nMonday, June 1, 7:30-8:45pm | In-Studio or on Zoom\nMonday, July 6, 7:30-8:45pm | In-Studio or on Zoom\nIn-Studio at Moksha & on Zoom!\nYoga Alliance Continuing Education – 2 contact hours available ( https://www.yogaalliance.org/YACEPPublicProfile?cepid=13846#/section=1 ).\nAimee Forsberg, Certified Advanced Yoga Teacher\nArdha Matsyendrasana\n
