Rajya was introduced to mindfulness at an early age, and it has served her healing throughout life. She strives to share yoga with all bodies, especially those that don’t feel represented as yogis in the US. She is a proud South-Asian American, and straddling two cultures had been part of her path to build empathy for individuals and communities. She brings this empathy to her work outside of yoga as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Rajya completed her 200-hour certified yoga teacher training in 2017 at Moksha Yoga while pregnant and re-learning herself. Her career as a social worker and a yogi complement each other, building people’s trust in their own wisdom and intuition and to ultimately bring us more justice and peace.
In Rajya’s classes, you will find a yoga practice grounded in self-determination, so that each practitioner finds their center, and ways to tap into their parasympathetic nervous system. She has learned with various master teachers on topics such as Yoga to Transform Trauma, Restorative Yoga, Asana Alignment, and Yoga Biomechanics and Anatomy. She is also certified in the Trauma Conscious Yoga Method. Come to her restorative class to explore deep relaxation and open yourself to a retreat from daily struggles.
