Sofia Galanis
Sofia Galanis graduated from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with an Emphasis in Chemistry and continued at Texas Tech University to earn a Master of Science in Chemistry. Her graduate work in collaboration with 3 other scientists led to a patent for a multinational chemical company. Working as an R&D scientist for an analytical instrumentation manufacturer, she focused on instrumentation and protocol development. She developed an interest in natural health to help one of her children through a health challenge. She obtained her Certified Natural Health Practitioner and Traditional Naturopath education through Trinity School of Natural Health as well as Advanced Digestive Enzyme training from the Food Enzyme Institute.
While Sofia had taken yoga classes in the past, she found her yoga practice in 2021. Her personal practice helped her to go within, understand the experiences that had shaped who she had become and gave her the tools for self-transformation. As Gary Kraftsow shares in Yoga for Wellness, the goals of an asana practice are for “understanding more deeply the mechanisms that responsible for our present condition.” And continues by stating, “self-awareness is the key to any process of self-transformation.”
Sofia guides her students and holds space for their own self-awareness and self-transformation process, through asana, pranayama, and meditation.
