The Art of Noticing | Thesis Workshop
Explore the power of your own perception as we journey with the eight limbs of yoga. Inviting your inner artist to emerge, this session melds the creative process with yoga’s core principles through external and internal observation. You’ll get to put pen to paper and go through the Astanga ½ Primary Series, followed by a guided meditation rooted in the art of noticing. Tune in to tune out as we find stillness, presence, and inspiration.
Why “the art of noticing”? As a photographer, I approach making a photo through pause and observation. I like finding the little details and the angle not yet captured (as most photographers do). My goal is never to just capture a moment, but rather to capture what the moment felt like – and I do that through “noticing.” Noticing how light, color, movement and negative space influence the feeling of being there, of being present. I do this almost to a fault – sometimes I can only feel truly present if I have my camera with me, ready to mummify a memorable moment or sight. I don’t journal often, as photos serve that purpose for me. Logistically, a photography & yoga workshop would be too complicated (and also a bit cheesy for my taste), so I’d like to explore the intersection of these two worlds through this mindfulness exercise.
This is a donation based workshop.
