Join Latin American musicians Rodrigo Bussad and Andres Lopes for a night of handpan and percussion music! A unique sound journey that will travel through different rhythms and the magical sonorities of ethnic percussion instruments in a delicate and intimate candlelit venue.
Rodrigo Bussad holds a Ph.D. in Music Composition from the University of Chicago and has taught various Music disciplines over the years alongside his career as a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Rodrigo has been a Handromeda Handpan (Brazil) Official Artist since 2023, and RavVast Drums Social Media representative. Also a 200CYT, he brings his music to his yoga classes or collaborates with other yoga teachers. With the motto handpan•everywhere he travels around the world performing as a street artist to thousands of wandering people, he has played on three different continents and seven different countries so far. Listening to the singular energies of space, his work with the handpan includes long improvised meditations, a true sound journey for the attuned.
Andres is a musician born in Quito, Ecuador. He started his musical studies in Santiago de Chile, playing guitar at the age of 6. At the age of 15, he specialized in drums and percussion. In 2007 he obtained a scholarship to study at the Berklee International Networking School, at University of San Francisco de Quito, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. In 2010 he won the contest Jazz Envoys organized by the U.S. Embassy in Ecuador, attended the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Camp, and performed at the prestigious Millenial Stage at Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. In 2016 he obtained his master’s degree at New York University, where he studied with Ari Hoenig, Chris Potter, and Alan Ferber. He currently leads his band, the Andres Lopez Jazz Project, in which he explores composition, working with odd metrics and merging with jazz all his early influences such as salsa, cumbia, funk, and rock.
