Karen Munoz
Karen Munoz is a lifelong Chicagoan, law professor, therapist-in-training, yoga teacher, and wellness educator. The first-born child of an immigrant family, she has been practicing yoga for more than two decades and teaching since earning her certification in 2014. She believes deeply in the power of movement, breath, community, and connection to support healing and well-being. Karen’s teaching has been shaped by the guidance of respected teachers and by the belief that we can lift one another up through compassion and shared experience. In addition to teaching yoga, she develops educational and practical well-being programs for the legal profession, helping lawyers cultivate mindfulness, resilience, and sustainable practices for personal and professional growth.
She serves on the Board of Directors of the Mindfulness in Law Society and is Chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Well-Being & Mindfulness Committee. Whether in the classroom, the legal community, or the yoga studio, Karen is passionate about creating spaces where people can connect with self and others.
Karen Munoz teaches yoga because she believes it is a path to come home to yourself. Her classes weave together breathwork, mindful
movement, music, aromatherapy, and trauma-informed practices. With a person-centered approach and a deep belief that wellness should be accessible to everyone, Karen creates spaces where students can move, breathe, explore, and simply be. Her goal is to help people leave feeling more connected, present, and alive than when they arrived.
Charity: Ascend Justice, a non-profit that serves individuals and families impacted by gender-based violence. Karen has served on its board for the last 8 years.
