Hollis Rabin
Hollis started practicing yoga in 2006 as an “easy” way to fill a college elective credit – it was not easy and her life was forever changed. Throughout her hectic early adulthood years of perpetually changing jobs, apartments, and partners, and battling internal demons she discovered Astanga yoga. This became the constant she needed to stay grounded. For Hollis, practicing Astanga is like coming home to herself; Astanga quiets the mind, steadies the body, and reminds you to be here, now.
“Yoga is not about self-improvement. It’s about self-acceptance.”
~Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa
As the years passed the changes kept coming. Noticing these changes in herself – without judgement – has been the greatest challenge that has deepened her practice. Aging has given Hollis a renewed sense of appreciation for this wondrous life and an increased awareness in how we choose to experience it. Her goal as a yoga teacher is to help students from across the lifespan to find their way home to themselves. Hollis’s class combines principles of Astanga with viniyoga to make this otherwise intense practice accessible to all. Because, “yoga is not about touching your toes, it’s about what you learn on the way down.” – Jigar Gor
Hollis currently works as a therapist and clinical supervisor for a nonprofit that provides social services to immigrants, refugees, and folks from underserved communities. She has the privilege of overseeing a program that places therapists in Chicago Public Schools. In her spare time she enjoys ballet, gardening, and camping with her partner and her dog, Buster.

“Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees.”

“Peace is this moment without judgement
This moment in the heartspace where
Everything that is, is welcome”
~Dorothy Hunt
