“Yoga practice returns us to who we are in our essence,
so we can live in the joy, wellness & ease that is our birthright.”
~Juliana Mitchell, Living Now Yoga
Prior to studying at Moksha, Caran completed her 200 Hour Teacher Training at The Yoga Room in Long Island City. After graduating, she completed additional teacher training with Juliana Mitchell, (Anatomy of Respiration and Anatomy/Kinesiology of the Spine). Caran completed additional spiritual studies with Gary Kraftsow at the Viniyoga Institute–Untying the Knots of the Heart (the Three Granthis) and Devata Yoga (engaging the symbolism of Vedic deities to help practitioners realize their Divine potential). Although the teachings may vary, the sentiment remains the same – there is something higher than the cycles we find ourselves stuck in, and the secret to becoming enlightened is to remember that you already are.
“We begin where we are and how we are, and whatever happens, happens.”
~T.K.V. Desikachar, The Heart of Yoga
Classes with Caran are thoughtfully paced and informative, emphasizing self-awareness and playful curiosity. As a Bhakti yogi, she emphasizes radical compassion, adaptability, and acceptance–best explained by Gary Kraftsow: “all your kleshas–anger, fear, greed–that is the part of your body that needs attention; that is the part of you that wants to grow.” Yoga is union, and we cannot achieve union until we are at peace with who we are and how we are, in this body and in this moment.
