Mia Park

Mia Park is a Chicago based yoga teacher who is passionate about sharing yoga. She is a certified ParaYoga Level I instructor who draws on this lineage to weave together chanting, pranayama (breathing exercises), asana (poses) and meditation to illuminate the best in each student. ParaYoga is an authentic lineage of yoga that is as much a spiritual practice as it is physical. Mia brings a warm and fun attitude to this ancient science of self evolution.

Mia emphasizes the awareness of breath. With this awareness, the energy (prana) needed to uncover the best in you follows. Every body is different, so Mia teaches with a multi-level approach. She believes that yoga practices should be catered to the individual with an emphasis on the function of the pose, rather than perfecting its form. Balance is a key element to Mia's class, whether she's teaching a vigorous, pre-natal or restorative class.

Mia found yoga while teaching cardio kick boxing in 2002. Shhe was amazed to discover how balanced she felt after practicing yoga. Yoga helped Mia create a calmness that was vital to her active life of playing in rock bands and acting. She met her teacher, Yogarupa Rod Stryker, in 2005 and now assists him at teacher trainings.

Mia is a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher as well as a 200 hour Certified Yoga Teacher and has completed over 500 hours of yoga teacher training. She is so grateful to study yoga with her two favorite teachers, Rod Stryker and Gary Kraftsow. Mia also studied with Aadil Palkhivala, Shiva Rea, Barbara Benagh, Mitchell Bleier, Anna Forrest, Swami Shankardev, Rolf Solvik, Dr. Robert Svoboda, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Ph.D., Dharma Mittra, Leslie Kaminoff, Nicholai Bachman and Mark Whitwell.

Mia teaches in yoga studios and athletic clubs in Chicago, as well as in Chicago Public Schools. She teaches to private clients and volunteer instructs at a domestic violence shelter for women. Mia is also a brand ambassador for Manduka and Three Minute Egg yoga products. Sign up for the Bright and Beautiful Newsletter to receive monthly updates on Mia's yoga workshops and classes. Peace.
