Stepping onto her first yoga mat at the local gym in 2005,
Carolyn Dale started a dedicated daily practice and has been immersed since. Carolyn’s classes creatively flow through a challenging sequence, which focuses on alignment, detoxifies organs, and builds a strong foundation of asanas (poses to strengthen and lengthen muscles), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation balance the nervous system, calm the mind, and connect oneself to their true inner light. Carolyn creates a safe and open environment for students to explore all their tools for healing, just waiting to be discovered within themselves. Carolyn’s teaching style mindfully guides you through your practice to unlock and to connect you with your inner light. It is from this connection that the answers to your questions are found. You realize that you always have access to your inner compass. You can stop searching outside yourself. We each have exclusive access to our inner knowing. We must first root down in the present moment and breathe. The breath is our vehicle to our inner guidance. All we need to do is be patient, listen, receive, and follow the stillness of the breath.
With continued practice, you discover a greater sense of purpose and strength of will and your thinking becomes clearer and more concentrated, affecting all you do. Carolyn leads students to enter the higher path of living where they can improve the quality of life and be introduced to their inherent potentials. Students will leave class inspired to use their newly discovered tools for healing, overcoming obstacles, and live an authentic, balanced life of peace.
Carolyn completed a 100-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at Chicago Yoga Center in 2009, and then the disc between two of her vertebrae ruptured. Back surgery followed. She discovered that her yoga practice minimized her physical pain pre- and post-surgery and brought her a deeper sense of peace and comfort. Carolyn knew she wanted to dedicate her time and energy to deepening her practice by exploring the body, mind, and spirit. She quit her job of 11 years as an outdoor retail manager and buyer, and completed Moksha Yoga Center’s Teacher Training program in 2011. She is certified with the Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level and in Level 2 Reiki. Carolyn has dedicated over 1,500 hours of studies locally and in teacher trainings and workshops with masters such as Tias Little, Aadil Palkhivala, and Seane Corn. Combining her passions for trail running, Nature, soul collaging, and writing, Carolyn enthusiastically teaches Beginners, Hatha, Vinyasa, and Restorative yoga and has published articles in
Yoga Chicago magazine.
Carolyn continues her education through a daily practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation. She also studies with the master teachers that visit Moksha and reads her favorite books: Fire of Love by Aadil Palkhivala, Meditations from the Mat by Rolf Gates, Light on Life by B.K.S Iyengar, Dreamwork by Mary Oliver and The Bhagavad Gita. On and off the mat, Carolyn aspires to root down in the present, mindfully breathe, and restore inner peace and quietude that facilitates self-illumination. It is from this awareness and connection that we encourage others to radiate in their own Divine nature.
Carolyn has written several articles for Yoga Chicago:
