Kathie Howe grew up in a small town in Wisconsin and couldn't wait to get to the big city. In Chicago she headed to law school and practiced in the healthcare field, finding that a yoga practice provided a great balance to a hectic corporate life. She loves photography and mountain hiking in the southwest.
Kathie has been teaching yoga since 2002. She was inspired to become a yoga teacher while taking classes with Daren Friesen and one of her first teacher training courses was with Moksha Yoga Center. She has studied and been influenced with Moksha's master yoga teachers of various yoga styles including Aadil Palkhivala, Rod Stryker, Tias Little, Ana Forrest, Gary Kraftsow and Gabriel Halpern. Kathie also is a trained Thai Yoga Massage Therapist having apprenticed with Paul Weitz. She is grateful for the opportunity to learn from these teachers who embody the spirit of yoga with unique styles and approaches. She has learned from the Dalai Llama to take the practice seriously, but not to take oneself too seriously, and to keep a sense of humor.
Kathie's eclectic teaching style is informed by respect for her teachers and by the unique qualities of each Yoga practitioner. She has taught at the Chicago Board of Trade, at a rehab in-patient facility, and also works with students with spinal and hip alignment concerns. Her Basics/Foundation classes focus on breath, mind, proper alignment and the principles of Yoga. She also provides workshops for teachers with a focus on teaching beginning students.
